Your Dubai medical test result comes by SMS or email from Dubai Health, and once it is issued the Medical Fitness Certificate is sent to the email you registered with. You can also check the result online on Dubai Health's Medical Fitness Check page. The wait depends on the service you paid for, from about 30 minutes at Smart Salem to 24 hours on the normal service.
How the result reaches you
Dubai Health uses three routes:
- SMS or email with the result, to the contact details given at registration.
- Email with the certificate. Dubai Health says the Medical Fitness Certificate goes to your registered email once the result is issued.
- Online status. After the exam you can look the file up on the Medical Fitness Check page.
Dubai Health's service catalogue also says Smart Salem results are sent to GDRFA, which is the authority that issues the Dubai residence.
If a typing center registered you, check which phone number and email went on the form. Results go to those, so a center's number in place of yours can mean the SMS never reaches you.
How long the result takes
| Service | Result time | Official fee |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 24 hours | AED 270 |
| VIP | 6 hours | AED 700 |
| VIP | 2 hours | AED 1,020 |
| Smart Salem | about 30 minutes | AED 700 |

The catalogue notes that delivery time runs in official working hours. So a 24 hour result can take longer than a calendar day when the clock stops outside working hours. Booking, documents and centers are covered on our medical test for a Dubai visa page.
What the test screens for
The u.ae portal lists the tests for people coming to work or live in the UAE:
- HIV, for all residence applicants, new and renewal
- hepatitis B
- leprosy, for new applicants and at renewal
- syphilis
- tuberculosis
- pregnancy, for domestic workers such as maids, nannies and drivers
Dubai Health describes the visit as a blood sample and a chest X-ray, with vaccinations for some professions.
Fit or unfit: what each one means
Fit. The certificate is emailed to you. Your residence file can move on to the Emirates ID and the visa itself. Keep the email until the visa is issued or renewed.
Unfit. Dubai Health's catalogue says that for unfit cases the sponsor or PRO has to visit Block 7 at Al Muhaisnah Medical Fitness Center during working hours. That catalogue is an older edition, so confirm with Dubai Health that Block 7 is still the right desk before you go.
What an unfit result does to the visa depends on the condition. u.ae states that residence is refused or not renewed for positive HIV and leprosy cases. For drug-resistant TB, the person is treated in the UAE until recovery, and once cured the residence may be renewed.
Confirmatory tests and retests
Dubai Health publishes two specific answers:
- Positive hepatitis B (HBsAg). You need a PCR confirmatory test, and the next step depends on its result.
- Suspect chest X-ray. Whether you can work depends on whether the finding is minimal or moderate.
We found no general retest procedure on the official pages. If your result is held or marked unfit, ask Dubai Health or the Al Muhaisnah center what they need from you, and keep every report they give you.
What a typing or Amer center can do
A center can register you for the test and print the form. It cannot change a result or speed up a confirmatory test. If the residence is due to expire while a result is pending, look at the grace period and the overstay fine in Dubai so a medical delay does not turn into a daily fine.
After a fit result
The next step depends on the visa:
- a renewal of your own or a family member's residence: see visa renewal in Dubai
- a maid or nanny renewal, where MOHRE needs a valid result first: see maid visa renewal in Dubai
- a first residence for a spouse or child aged 18 or over: see family visa in Dubai
For every residence type and its costs, the UAE visa page is the starting point.
