Thai citizens need a Dubai visa. Thailand is on the visa required list of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, so travellers flying from Bangkok get a GDRFA tourist visa through a Dubai tourism establishment, from AED 210 for 30 days. Since , Thais who hold residence or a visa in certain countries can instead use ICP's visa for nationals residing abroad: 14 days or 60 days.

Where you live decides the route

Living in Thailand

You need a visa issued before the flight. A Dubai travel agency, hotel or airline holiday desk applies to GDRFA:

  • 30 days single entry: AED 210
  • 60 days single entry: AED 315
  • 30 days multiple entry: AED 315
  • 60 days multiple entry: AED 525

Fees from the GDRFA tourist visa pages, VAT included, checked . You send a passport scan valid for 6 months or more, a photo, a return ticket and UAE-valid travel health insurance. GDRFA states 48 hours.

Living in Japan, Korea, Australia, Europe or North America

ICP added Thailand to the nationalities that can use a foreign residence or visa for UAE entry. The qualifying documents on ICP's service page:

Issued by Accepted document
United States, EU countries, United Kingdom Valid visa or residence permit
Japan, South Korea, Australia, Canada, Singapore, New Zealand Valid residence permit

Two lengths:

  • 14 days, AED 100 in ICP's announcement, extendable once while in the UAE.
  • 60 days, AED 250 issuance plus AED 100 smart services, single entry, not extendable. Use it within 30 days of issue. ICP states 2 days to process.

Family members travelling with you can use the same visa if they also meet the nationality and residence conditions. Your passport needs 6 months of validity. Source: ICP announcement and ICP service page, checked .

Living in the UAE already

Then you hold a residence and need no visa. If you are coming to join a partner who lives in Dubai, see the next section.

Partners and family in Dubai

A Thai partner or relative of a UAE resident can come on an ICP visit visa sponsored by that resident. The income test is AED 4,000 a month for a spouse, parent or child and AED 8,000 for a sibling. A refundable guarantee of AED 1,000 (single entry) is lodged. For a married couple who plan to live together in Dubai, a residence visa through the spouse visa route is the longer-term answer.

Common slip-ups

  • Booking the ICP 60-day visa and then entering more than 30 days later. It lapses.
  • Expecting to extend the 60-day visa. It cannot be extended; plan the exit date.
  • Travel insurance that excludes the UAE.
  • A Japanese or Korean residence card that expires during the trip.

During and after the trip

Check that the visa is issued with the GDRFA tool on visa status check. Overstaying costs AED 50 a day; the overstay fine page has the details. Southeast Asian neighbours: Malaysia is visa free, Indonesia has the same ICP route as Thailand.

How the partner team helps

Tell us the traveller's nationality, where they live and the dates. For a Thai resident abroad, the team compares the ICP 60-day visa with a standard tourist visa and files whichever fits the trip. Because ICP's online system needs a UAE Pass login, having someone in the UAE file it saves the traveller a step. You get one total price before anything is filed, with the government fee and service charge on separate lines. WhatsApp us or use the form.
