Dubai visa for Ghanaians

Ghanaian citizens need a visa before travelling to Dubai. A Dubai agency or hotel applies for a GDRFA tourist visa, from AED 210 for 30 days, or a relative living in the UAE sponsors an ICP visit visa.

Ghanaian passport holders need a Dubai visa issued before travel. Ghana is on the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs' visa required list, and it is not covered by ICP's residence-based visa on arrival. You can get a GDRFA tourist visa, applied for by a Dubai tourism establishment, from AED 210 for 30 days, or come on a visit visa sponsored by a relative who lives in the UAE.

Budgeting the visa

Ghanaian travellers often see very different prices for the same visa. This is how a quote breaks down:

Part of the price Amount Comes back?
GDRFA fee, 30 days single entry AED 210 No
GDRFA fee, 60 days single entry AED 315 No
Agency service fee Varies; online totals for 30 days are about AED 336 to AED 350 No
Refundable deposit, where an agency asks Up to AED 3,500 on published lists Yes, if you leave on time

GDRFA fees from its service pages; agency figures from published Dubai agency price lists, both checked . Multiple entry costs AED 315 for 30 days and AED 525 for 60 days in GDRFA fees.

A deposit is the agency's protection: the tourism establishment that applies for you is answerable if a visitor overstays. If you pay one, ask how many days after your exit it is refunded, and keep the receipt.

Documents that get a file through

  • Passport scan, bio page, at least 6 months valid and fully legible
  • Passport photo on a white background
  • Confirmed return flight
  • Health insurance valid in the UAE
  • For a family visit: the sponsor's residence, Emirates ID, salary proof and something that shows the relationship

GDRFA states 48 hours for a complete tourist visa file.

Family in the UAE

A relative living in the UAE can apply to ICP for a visit visa. The sponsor needs a monthly income of AED 4,000 for a parent, child or spouse, AED 8,000 for siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles, and AED 15,000 for a friend. ICP charges an application fee, monthly issuance and a smart services fee, and takes a refundable guarantee of AED 1,000 for single entry. See Dubai visit visa for every fee line.

Looking for work

A tourist visa is for visiting. Taking a job on one is not allowed, and the employer cannot pay you legally until your work permit and residence are issued. If you want time in Dubai to job hunt, the job seeker visa UAE is the visa for that, without a sponsor.

Watch the exit date

There is no stated grace period on visit visas. Each day over costs AED 50 (overstay fine in Dubai), and if you used an agency that took a deposit, an overstay can cost you that too. Confirm the issue and expiry dates on GDRFA with the steps on visa status check.

How we help Ghanaian travellers

Tell us the dates and whether a relative in the UAE is sponsoring. The partner team files the right application, either the GDRFA tourist visa or the ICP visit visa, and shows the government fee as its own line so you can see what the service charge is. If a deposit is needed for a particular category, they tell you before you commit. You get the e-visa once issued and one total price before any work starts. WhatsApp us or use the form.

Questions people ask

Can Ghanaians get a visa on arrival in Dubai?

No. The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs lists Ghana as visa required, so you need the e-visa before you board.

How much is a Dubai visa for Ghanaians?

GDRFA's fee is AED 210 for a 30-day single-entry tourist visa. Agencies usually add a service fee, and some ask for a refundable deposit.

Why do Dubai agencies ask Ghanaian travellers for a deposit?

Some agencies hold a refundable deposit as security against an overstay, which the agency would answer for. Published lists show deposits of up to AED 3,500. Get the refund terms in writing.

Can my cousin in Dubai sponsor my visa?

Yes, if he or she earns at least AED 8,000 a month, ICP's minimum for second and third-degree relatives.

Does a UK residence permit help a Ghanaian get a Dubai visa on arrival?

No. ICP's residence-based visa covers seven other nationalities, not Ghana. A Ghanaian living in the UK still needs a visa in advance.
